If I were the President (first 100 days in office)

Last Friday, in one of may class in DPA, my Professor tasked me to do a report on what needs to be done in the first 100 days in office being I the elected President… Here’s my first 100 days…

Audit all the Agencies/Departments
Auditing all agencies will give a more transparent government. It will also help to know if there’s a surplus/deficit in each department levels and to know how well they manage their resources… For all we know baka bankrupt yung dadatnan ng bagong President.

Change Certain Appointed Officials
Every time the administration changes, it has been a tradition for all appointed officials to tender their courtesy resignation. Choose the new officials based on merits and competitiveness. Retain some effective Appointed Officials like Sec. Cabral. Not all the tomatoes in the basket were rotten.

Formulate an Economic Team
To be more effective the Economic Team can be mixed personalities from past administration like having Winnie Monsod & Ben Diokno. Who knows these could lead to cooperation, healing and reconciliation between past administrations.

Environment
Prepare the NDCC for the upcoming rainy season to avoid what happened during the ondoy last year. Be serious about some advocacies like the mining, pasig and clean air act. Prepare for some catastrophic events such as Earthquake and other Climate Change Related phenomenon.

Education
Strengthen the education system. Train and increase the salary of teachers to be more effective, to motivate students. Allocate large portion of the budget to build classrooms with computers for competitiveness, Empower CHED to regulate Tuition Fee Hike. (This is my wildest thought) 50% of the State University’s population should come from the class D & E regardless of entrance exam. It will not affect the quality of students but instead a challenge to all professors/school to teach and pass some knowledge to these students. Some of our social problems boils down to lack of education.
Study the curriculum, High unemployment rate can be prevented if there’s no job mismatch…

Labor
Study contractualization na sobrang laganap.. (Advocacy rin ito ng ilang presidentiables ngaun) Create more Jobs and don’t rely on OFW remittances & Call Center / outsourcing…

Ways & Means
Consider the proposals of some economists… Lower down the income tax (masakit pag kinaltasan ng tax) and corporate tax… Simultaneously increasing the EVAT to 15%... In this way ramdam ng tao na marami silang pera and they can buy goods… Cash flow will be good and tax will not be that of a burden…

This were just some of my planned actions if I were the President Elect… Let us Vote Wisely, Future Generations depends on our Decision today…
